Where are these raised beds made?
Fir wood is a special wood that looks like a pine tree. This type of wood is commonly found in the Pacific Northwest, but the softwood species are most popular in North America.
Can you connect ECOgardener’s raised bed into a longer box?
The ECOgardener Raised Garden Bed is created like a box with a tongue and groove assembly. Only the middle two posts have the groove on three sides to connect the two boxes. If you had two complete sets, you could make it three boxes long since you'll have an additional two posts with the three grooves. However, you wouldn't be able to connect all four together.
What do I put on the bottom of a raised garden bed?
It is important to put something on the bottom of the raised garden to prevent weeds and grass from growing and destroying your plants. Gardeners put landscape fiber to line the bottom of the raised garden bed. It is a kind of fiber that is specially made from recycled materials, such as polyester and linen. The landscape fiber contains various holes to ensure that there is proper drainage for the soil.
Do raised garden beds need drainage?
The answer is YES. All gardening must have proper drainage to ensure the healthy growth of the plants. Poor drainage can cause water to pool at the roots or make the soil waterlogged. This can cause your plants to drown and die.
How deep should a raised planter box be?
Typically, a raised bed does not need to be very deep or shallow. For some plants, a 6-8” deep planter box is enough. For some other plants, an 8-12” deep planter box is preferred.

Is the wood treated/coated with chemicals?
No, ECOgardener raised beds are not chemically-treated to ensure that they are safe to use for plants and vegetables. Chemically-treated wood is usually light brown or dark green and smells oily.
